Market up in the first quarter

During the first three months of 2019, 3,178 construction equipment has been sold on the Italian market, up 17% compared to the first quarter of 2018. In more detail, figures consist of 3,058 earth-moving machines (+17%), and 120 road equipment (29%). 

“The growth of the Italian market in the first quarter it a very positive signal – said Antonio Strati, Unacea councilor with responsibility for statistics activities. Although concerns remain over the general economic trend, we expect that the awaited relaunch in construction investment can support this positive trend of the market”. 

Looking at the foreign trade, Italian export of construction equipment in January reached €187 millions, with a drop of 1% compared January 2018. More in details, it grows the export of road machines (+47%), of concrete equipment (+21%), and of tower cranes (+2%). It is negative instead the export of earth-moving machines (-8%) and of drilling equipment (-18%). Also imports fall, recording a -13% in January 2019. Trade balance surplus amount to €126 million, up 6% y-o-y.
