Down export and import
In the first quarter of 2021, 3,783 construction equipment have been sold in the Italian market, up 40% compared to the first quarter 2020. In more details, earth moving machines sold were 3,645 (+40%), and 138 (+50%) road machines.
Looking at the international trade, export in January 2021 registered a drop of 10% compared to the first month of 2020. Also imports decreased, down 9%. Trade balance remains positive of about €70 million, stable if compared to what registered in January 2020.
“The result of the Italian market in the first quarter confirms what we have seen at the end of 2020 – said Mirco Risi, President of Unacea. The numbers are significant, but complex at the same time. The industry’s production increasingly feels the effect of the increase in the costs of raw materials, the availability of components and delays in transport. These disruptions, which show no sign of running out must be carefully monitored to avoid blockages of production lines as well as difficulties in meeting the demand”.
